With an extensive musical background, he started learning guitar with only seven years old and was soon introduced to hip hop and rap, waking up his interest in starting writing lyrics and creating backing tracks from samples.
The interest generated by two self-released EP's written and produced entirely in his bedroom attracted support from BBC Introducing’s Abbie McCarthy and radio airplay from BBC Radio 1 Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 2 Dermot O’Leary and BBC 6 Tom Robinson, as well as songs being playlisted in stores and gaining over 2.8 million streams on Spotify.
A deeply independent artist with a very personal style, it was after two years of songwriting that he decided to start a new project under the moniker FØNX, delivering RnB-infused pop with jazz, funk and soul influences, merging catchy grooves, memorable hooks and intricate guitar licks with inspired lyrical content.
Currently writing and self-producing his debut album, FØNX has incorporated his sister's vocals and talent to the mix and has been playlisted in Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday Norway’, 'Soultronic' and 'Chilled Pop Hits' editorial playlist features, Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week Japan’ playlist, achieving over 15 million streams, something really impressive for an unsigned independent artist like him.
Apart from his own songs, he also has writing credits that include Sonny Alven's "Irregular Love" or Vargenta's "By My Side" just to name a couple, apart from his elder and more acoustic musical project under his real name, Corey Fox-Fardell, that we also recommend checking out!
