Eyes On For '21: The Banshees
Despite being a relatively new band on the scene, The Banshees are piloted by veterans.
Formed in Autumn 2018 after the two members met at a party in Liverpool, journeymen Vinny Pereira and Paul Anthony Holligan have over 20 years of experience in the music industry and have a combined vision of what music from the North West should be about.
Singer/Songwriter Vinny has spent time in several bands while also producing and recording music, while session guitarist Paul has supported such artists as Noel Gallagher and members of Inspiral Carpets.
The Banshees dropped the debut EP ‘Self Medicated’ in May 2019 followed by the single ‘It’s Alright’ in March 2020 which released to critical acclaim with coverage from Dave Monks on BBC Introducing.
The single was also played at Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium, recognition for the buzz the band have generated in the North West music scene.
Despite interruptions from Covid, the band continued to make music throughout 2020, recording in-house developing a style as a 2 man team.
Their most recent release, ‘You’re Wrong’ in November 2020 paves the way for new material coming next year, combining the rhythm and groove of the Mersey Beat era with true Northern grit.
